SPACES is a presenting contemporary art venue dedicated to artists who
explore and experiment. Located on the west side of downtown Cleveland,
SPACES currently operates three programs to feature the excellent works of
our curated artists: R&D (Research & Development), SWAP (SPACES World
Artists Program), and The Vault.
This call-for-entries is is for the R&D Program and is open to all
established or emerging artists, curators and cultural producers who are 21
years old or older. Applications must show promise and strong conceptual
grounding.

a.pass is a one year artistic research program open to artists and
theoreticians with an interest in exploring the performative and/or spatial
dimensions of their practice.
If you are working in the performing arts and you want to develop an
artistic research project in a professional collaborative environment,

if you come from another field and the concepts of performativity or/and
scenography are (relatively) new to you but you want to explore them in
depth, in relation to your own practice

Re Act - Call for participation #1
Re Act is part of the Act series, an ongoing digital art project designed to
encourage criticism of contemporary politics. The exhibit Re Act is an
expansion of this concept, and will be part of a curatorial residency at The
Market Studios in Dublin, Ireland.
Artists are invited to use the Act tools for production/inspiration/objects
of critique to generate artwork, this could be any political commentary
relevant to anywhere in the world. The original Act project included the
development of five digital ‘tools’ or ‘guides’, which were then applied to
political content to create artwork. The idea is to use these guides to
create new artwork, in any medium!

I invite you to propose writings or art-works for the next issue of Cannons
and Muses second publication. Issue #2 will deal with the concept of state
and corporate sponsorship and its influence on arts.
What we are looking for:
a. Writings: articles, abstracts, academic as well as personal views and
critiques of the subject.
b. Art-works: drawings/photography/video-frames, relating to or
addressing the subject.
Format: writings: up to 1500 words. Art: digital formats only.

Cannons and Muses is an association of worldwide artists, seeking to
collaborate with each other in an attempt to reinvigorate the connection
between artist and social thought.
Issue #2 will address the issue of sponsorship of the arts, particularly in
The Department of Studio Art at UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the
Arts is conducting a search for a designer/artist with an emphasis in
critical design practices for the position of Assistant Professor. The
Department of Studio Art offers both the Bachelor of Arts degree (BA)
and the Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA). The effective starting date
for the position is January 1, 2013.
We seek an individual of international reputation working at the
forefront of interdisciplinary design practices and with a proven
record of engagement and collaboration with members of the public and
the academy outside of their artistic disciplines.
While expertise in established design and art practices is desirable,
we are interested in candidates who think expansively and critically
