CCI ANNOUNCES NEW ARC GRANT PROGRAM (Los Angeles)

CCI ANNOUNCES NEW ARC GRANT PROGRAM
Focus on First-time Grantees
Deadline: April 29, 2013

CCI is pleased to announce the extension of the ARC program for a final five rounds of funding in 2013 and 2014, to support individual artists in Los Angeles who have not previously received an ARC grant.

Since being launched by The Durfee Foundation in 2000, the ARC program has funded a total of 570 artists working in all disciplines. Because we know that ARC grants have played a critical role in helping so many artists to get their work out to the public, Durfee and CCI have determined that the final five rounds of ARC will be focused on artists who have not yet received an ARC grant.

Brooklyn Arts Exchange Space Grant Program, deadline March 25

The SPACE GRANT PROGRAM at BAX | BROOKLYN ARTS EXCHANGE is designed to give
Brooklyn based dance, theater and performance artists the opportunity to
create new work in a setting that is conducive to working deeply and
exploring new territory.

BAX offers two different types of Space Grants. Grant #1 (Summer) is a work
period, Grant #2 (Fall) includes a performance component.

We are actively seeking artists who can demonstrate need for our space and
the ability to work effectively. Artists who have received previous space
grants must wait three years before reapplying. For example if you received
a grant in 2009/2010 (or earlier) you may reapply in 2013.

For more information and the online application, visit
http://artistservices.bax.org/space-grants/2013-application.

A Call for Noise

100TH ANNIVERSARY ART OF NOISES MANIFESTO
11TH MARCH 2013

“We must enlarge and enrich more and more the domain of musical sounds. … This need and this tendency can be totally realised only through the joining and substituting of noises to and for musical sounds. “
(Russolo 1913, translated by Robert Filliou, 1967)

Dear Fellow Recordists and Noisemakers!

Next Monday 11th March marks an auspicious occasion - the 100th anniversary of the publication of the “Art of Noises” manifesto by futurist artist Luigi Russolo. With the manifesto and the concerts that followed, Russolo, an Italian painter, opened our ears to the use of noise as musical material. Without him the entire history of 20th century music might have taken a different course.
