The Ahimsa Collective presents "This is Your Brain on Poetry", an event where performers from all mediums and people from all walks of life are invited to revitalize classic and contemporary poetry with their own super-brilliant touch.
Here's how it breaks down. Anyone and everyone is/are invited to submit to be a participant. A participant will need to pick a classic or contemporary poem to present off of the Poetry Out Loud website (www.poetryoutloud.org). Then he or she will need to e-mail event administrator Kit Steinkellner at ahimsa.onedayevents@gmail.com with contact info and choice of poem. Entries MUST BE RECEIVED by 11:59 PM on MONDAY MARCH 15TH to participate (Yeah, okay, if you get your e-mail in at 12:02 AM, we'll let it slide…)
from LA Culture Net:
2009 was a difficult year for a lot of people. In response to the lost jobs, lost homes, major and minor tragedies, personal frustrations, heartbreak, etc., I am working on a project that called 2009 Was A Rough Year and I am hoping that you would be willing to help me.
Please visit the project website, http://aroughyear.com/home.html , to view the project.
In order to participate I would need you to:
1. Take a picture that represents the worst, most heartbreaking, or most frustrating moment you experienced in 2009.
2. E-mail it to me at 2009@aroughyear.com
3. Include as much or as little additional information as you would like.
Please pass this on to anyone who might be interested.
Thank you for your help.
