Interested students are encouraged to apply immediately for these internships at arts organizations throughout Los Angeles County. Students apply directly to the organization offering the internship not the Arts Commission. We are looking for someone who is already connected to the arts community in Los Angeles and NELA. Someone who is creative, innovative, understands various art forms and working with artists, who is a great team member and communicator and yet can work alone and get things done. A good sense of humor coupled with patience and high energy and added to terrific people skills are a must. Freewaves is launching a new series called Dis…Miss, a multi-genre, public visual art experience, with media and performing arts components, addressing fantasies and realities of gender polarization in local and mass media. The series features commissioned works from 20 outstanding L.A. visual artists. Launching with 25 video pieces, works also include postcards, posters, signage, billboards, and performances. Through this initiative, Freewaves hopes to open new avenues of thought and stimulate dialogue on inter-gender relationships.

Venice Arts seeks a photographer to work on a part-time basis as a teaching
artist (Lead Photographer). Working under the direct supervision of the
Director of Education, the Lead Photographer has the following, primary
responsibilities:
· Teach 4 photography workshops each academic cycle and one in summer
· Develop age-appropriate, standards-based syllabi for each class
that supports Venice Arts’ curricular goals
· Interview, place, support, and retain volunteer artist-mentors
placed in workshops (generally three per class)
· Assure the weekly, effective management of all art and media
produced by students, using Venice Arts existing protocols
