The below letter is from the Art4Development listserv. I really like the work they're doing - art-related with a progressive focus on 3rd-world countries. If you're interested in hearing more, read below, and have a look at their website - http://www.art4development.net.

Season's Greetings and UgandART!

Dear Art4Development.Net eCommunity Friends:

As we approach the New Year we would like to take a moment to thank
those of you who have continuously supported Arts for Global
Development in achieving its mission. Thank you indeed!

Those of you who have not yet had the time for "making the arts work"
to create a positive change - this holiday season we encourage you to
consider unique and meaningful art works as presents for your
friends, colleagues and family members!

Have you seen the tiny, and yet powerful artworks donated by women
artists from around the world? Select pieces, starting prices ranging
from $15 to $30, are now being exhibited as part of the
TreasurePostcards'o8-RED Project in Baltimore and 100% of the sales
proceeds benefit Friends of Orphans, an organization that works to
rehabilitate, reintegrate and empower child mothers, orphans, former
child soldiers, abductees and women; and protect their rights in
Uganda. You can purchase online as well! Click here to learn more
about the artworks and exhibit at

Have you thought of how much music can mean for a child, not only for
their personal development, but also to overcome their trauma of
postwar and conflict? The children of Friends of Orphans are in need
of musical instruments to establish a brass band. We are currently
looking for used or new instruments. We uploaded a flyer (in PDF
format) on our website that calls for such support. We encourage you
to share this flyer with your friends, family and community members.

Should you have any questions regarding this project you are always
welcome to contact us at ugandart@art4development.net

And last, but not the least, we want to wish each and every one of
you a wonderful, happy, healthy, peaceful and "creative" 2009!

Sincerely,

Arts for Global Development, Inc.
