Dear Art4Development.Net eCommunity Friends:
We have recently launched our TreasurePostcards Project'08 that invites FEMALE artists from across the globe to celebrate the 2008 International Women's Day by sharing their visual voices/expressions/perspectives with donated postcard-sized artworks.
Interested artists may highlight issues like violence against women, HIV/AIDS, illiteracy/education, skill development or economic empowerment in their works. The purpose of TreasurePostcards Project 2008 is to emphasize the importance of arts in empowering and bringing women together, and creating awareness on vital issues related to girls and women.
The artworks should be 4.5 x 5.5 inch or 14 x 10.5 cm in size, but can vary in media including photography, painting, mixed-media and collages of various materials, illustrations combined with poetry, anecdotes, caricatures, and many others. The donated postcards can be also designed in portrait/vertical or landscape/horizontal format.
The submission (US post by date) is March 08, 2008, which is the International Women's Day that has grown to become a global day of recognition and celebration around the world.
Select donated works will be exhibited at the 9th Street Gallery in Washington DC in March 2008 and available for sale during an educational event/exhibit to raise funds for a women's shelter/an NGO helping women and educating underprivileged young girls. Further details about the exhibition, educational event, and funds-beneficiary will be soon posted on the project website.
Interested female artists are highly encouraged to visit
