ArtCorps still has one opportunity available for a theater artist interested in strengthening international development work in Central America. Please reply ASAP if interested.
ArtCorps pairs volunteer artists for 12-month residencies with Central American organizations to communicate their messages through art. Artists use every imaginable art form including theater, mime, puppetry, mural painting, sculpture and poetry to bring the organizations' environmental and social messages to life and engage the local community in its activities.
We are seeking a theater artist to go to El Salvador in January 2007 to work with an affiliate of the Foundation for Self-Sufficiency in Central America. Candidates should be professional artists, Spanish- speaking, mature, autonomous, and have community arts experience if possible.
We provide health insurance, cover international travel and living expenses and also a stipend for art materials. There is a training session in Guatemala January 13-14, 2007 where our artists meet each other and receive training from a past artist as well as a Peace Corps trainer in cross-cultural work.
Interested artists should contact Suzanne Jenkins immediately at jenkins@nebf.org or +1 (978) 927-2404 x4. More information is on our website at http://www.artcorp.org.
All the best,
Suzanne
