Remai Modern is one of Canada’s leading art museums of modern and contemporary art, located on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon. The museum is currently seeking applicants for two major roles.

The Director of Development is responsible for securing major gifts to meet annual fundraising goals and for executing a development plan—including managing the Development Department—which meets the ongoing strategic, operational and capital needs of Remai Modern.

The Director of Development reports to the Co-Executive Director & CEOs, Aileen Burns and Johan Lundh, and actively engages the Remai Modern Foundation in the execution of the fundraising plan. This position is also responsible for maintaining relationships with existing donors and sponsors, implementing strategies to upgrade donors and sponsors, and maintaining a portfolio of prospective donors and sponsors.

Remai Modern’s ideal candidate has a master’s degree and/or a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation; seven to nine years’ progressively responsible experience in developing, implementing and managing fundraising programs; knowledge of public sector, non-profit organizational operations; and demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships.

Remai Modern is looking for a Curatorial Manager & Senior Curator. This new position, which reports to the Director of Exhibitions & Collections/Chief Curator, Michelle Jacques, is responsible for the management of the curatorial team.

Responsibilities will also include contributing to the programming and development of major exhibitions, collaboration on integrated program planning and the development of short and long-term curatorial plans such as collection development, exhibition program development, and interpretive planning development.

The Curatorial Manager & Senior Curator works collaboratively with all museum departments including Learning and Engagement, Development, Marketing and Communications, Finance, and Operations.

The museum’s ideal candidate has a Masters of Arts or higher in art history, curatorial studies or museum studies; seven years current and progressively responsible related experience including five years of experience managing a team; and experience originating art exhibitions, including all facets of research, production, installation, publication, and budget development and control.
