Open call: Salón ACME seeks artists for its tenth edition in Mexico City.

Salón ACME, the art platform that for nine editions has focused on giving visibility, promotion, and dissemination to a wide variety of artistic and curatorial practices, invites the artistic community to participate in its open call. Salón ACME is an annual event that takes place in February during the art week in Mexico City.

The open call to participate at Salón ACME 10 will remain open until October 9, 2022. The works selected by a Curatorial Board will be featured in the main exhibition of Salón ACME, at its regular venue at Proyecto Público Prim; an iconic building from the 20th century that merges its iconic architecture with profuse vegetation.

This year the Curatorial Board comprises Doreen A. Rios (Independent Curator), Bruno Alves-Almeida (Curator, Jan van Eyck Academie), Tania Candiani (Artist), Dorothée Dupuis (Curator and Founder of Terremoto) and Gabriel Rico, (Artist).

Participating in our Open Call exhibition can represent an important step in an artist's career. It is an opportunity to have wide visibility among a very diverse audience (22K attendees in four days) and to establish direct contact with the most important agents of the artistic and cultural scene. Once the selection has been made by the Curatorial Board, Base Proyectos is in charge of the articulation and museography of the participating works.

For this edition, HANGAR - Centro de Investigação Artística will be awarding the main prize, which consists of a one-month individual artistic residency in Lisbon, Portugal for an artist also selected through the open call. HANGAR is an artistic research center, managed by artists and curators, focused on experimentation, reflection, and education around various contemporary artistic practices.
