The Saturday Program Cooper Union
“If I can inspire one of these youngsters to develop the talent, I know they possess, then my monument will be in their work”– Augustus Savage
The Saturday Program is a Cooper Union Precollege program that provides free art education to underserved NYC public high school students. By providing access to art education and participation activities that may not otherwise be available to them, the SatPro not only provides visual analysis and foundational skills that would be provided in exclusive art courses, but the other interpersonal and engagement experiences that foster motivation, confidence and purpose. The Saturday Program plays a crucial role in supplementing or recovering arts education and promoting the participation of historically underserved communities in the arts.
