Call for applications 2022
Arte Fiera, Bologna / Italy
January 21–23, 2022
Arte Fiera
Piazza Costituzione, 6
40127 Bologna
Italy
We are happy to announce that applications to participate in Arte Fiera 2022 are now open. The exhibition will take place from January 21 to 23, physically and in safe conditions for all, both exhibitors and visitors. In consideration of the great hardships faced by galleries in the past two years, we have decided to offer reduced fees: a 20% discount will be applied on all tariffs.
In 2022, the exhibition aims both to consolidate the format perfected in two years of work and to renew itself. The layouts will be completely renewed: an important change that was made while closed due to the pandemic. Services for the public and for exhibitors will be more efficient.
As in the previous edition, the Main Section will be accompanied by three curated, invitation-only sections: Photography and moving images, Focus, and Pittura XXI.
The Main Section ranges from modern and postwar art (traditional strong points of Arte Fiera) to contemporary research, with strong emphasis on Italian art. It encourages monographic stands (a substantial part of its offer) and curatorial proposals that focus on a 20th-century school, trend or period.
Photography and moving images, curated by the Fantom platform (Selva Barni, Benedetta Pomini, Ilaria Speri, Massimo Torrigiani and Francesco Zanot) considers the photographic medium in a strictly contemporary manner: it is open to video and encourages dialogue between photography and other media. Now in its third edition, it is a reference point in Italy for collectors and enthusiasts.
Focus, introduced in 2020, concentrates on modern art and post-war masters, with content that changes from year to year: the curator is free to choose the period, trend, and artistic school to be presented. The 2022 edition, curated by art critic and historian Marco Meneguzzo, will regard so-called “exact art” (which includes kinetic art, programmed art, and similar trends) from the late ’50s to the ‘70s, with specific attention to the Italian scene.
Pittura XXI, curated by Davide Ferri, also in its second edition, is a new format for art fairs (both Italian and foreign): a panorama of 21st-century painting that ranges from emerging to mid-career artists. For the first time, an art fair devotes a specialised section to the most traditional medium, which in recent years has returned to centre stage for critics, institutions and the market.
Arte Fiera offered hospitality to over 350 VIPs in 2020. Our promotion of national and international collecting continues in 2022. In addition, participating galleries will be able to submit the names of two VIPs who will have the right to hospitality in a deluxe hotel.
We look forward to welcoming you in Bologna for Arte Fiera. Save the date.
