FCA's Emergency Grants COVID-19 Fund continues to support artists whose performances or exhibitions were canceled or indefinitely postponed due to the pandemic. Since its launch on March 18 we have awarded 1,030 artists with $2,000 grants, totaling $2,060,000 in direct funding to artists. For context, this is more grants than FCA has disbursed in the past six years combined.
FCA received over 4,700 applications since the program launch. To assist as many artists as possible, we have extended the program through December. We encourage you to help us get the world out about this important resource for artists.
Below is a response from a FCA Emergency Grants COVID-19 Fund performance art/theater grantee:
"I cannot thank you enough. While the [FCA's] message says modest, in my life it is monumental! Artists are indeed fortunate to have supporters like the FCA in their corner and at their backs, holding us up during these stressful times...My heart is singing! Thank you so much."
Artist Relief: A Coalition of National Grant-Makers

FCA has continued its work with Artist Relief, as part of the coalition of national arts grant-makers which came together during the COVID-19 crisis to provide informational resources and $5,000 grants for living expenses to artists in dire financial need nationwide. The consortium has made 3,000 grants totaling $15 million to individual artists to date.
Below is a quote from a recent Artist Relief Grant recipient:
"This is incredibly good news, and very timely, as we've been having to put expensive medical prescriptions on credit cards. This will allow us to pay for the prescriptions directly, as well address other necessary expenses. I've been applying each round, so this is very surprising news. Thank you all so much for all of the time and work you've been putting in to help artists."
As you know, we are offering one-time $2,000 grants to eligible artists through December. In alignment with our mission, the COVID-19 fund is focusing on artists who are making work of an experimental nature who have lost income from an engagement that has been canceled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. FCA is also considering applications for lost opportunities that may not have been confirmed before being canceled or postponed (e.g. if the artist was in conversation with a presenter but dates were not set and a fee was not decided).
FCA's fund is not currently supporting performers, ensemble members, designers, or technical or administrative staff. Our panelists have been prioritizing losses from non-commercial opportunities, and have thus far not prioritized losses from potential sales opportunities.
We encourage artists who are interested in applying to read our eligibility guidelines.
