CALL FOR ARTISTS
SUMMARY
The Arts Theology Committee of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Atlanta seeks to commission up to six artists to create works of art for the All Saints’ Stations of the Cross collection. Each work of art in this collection represents one of the 14 major events that occurred during Jesus’s journey from his trial and sentencing by Pontius Pilate to his crucifixion and burial. This body of work along with prescribed prayers is used by Christian faithful to re-enact that journey.
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
All Saints’ Stations of the Cross collection is very diverse and eclectic ranging from photography to painting to relief sculpture. A committee of three jurors will review all submissions in order to select the artists. The selected artists will be given a theme to interpret, based on one of the Stations of the Cross, and allowed to choose their medium. These pieces will be on public display in a church environment during the season of Lent and thus must be tastefully developed.
SUBMISSION - Interested artists are required to submit via our online form:
• Six JPEG images (1 MB max each) of current body of work within the last five years.
• A biography, CV or resume.
• An Artist’s Statement describing your philosophy and approach to your medium as well
as thoughts about this project in general and what you would propose to develop in broad
strokes.
Eligible Artists: Artists must be at least 18 years old.
Compensation: Selected artists will receive compensation of $750.
Deadline for submission: September 15, 2019
