For more than 10 years, resident artists at Gallery Aferro have had 24/7 access to large studios, and the growing network of residency alumni is an increasingly powerful, multigenerational group of contemporary artists working across media.

This open call is for artists and writers working in almost any media, who would like to continue their creative practice in an urban studio residency in downtown Newark, NJ. The residency is a 6-month rotation with a monthly fee of $275, and the possibility of renewal after the initial term. Collectives are welcome to apply, and there are no geographical restrictions.

Thanks to the Sustainable Arts Foundation, Gallery Aferro offers this open call to all artists or writers that are parents and would like to continue their creative practice in a free workspace studio for 6 months, with a $1000 stipend and bespoke solo programming opportunities within the vibrant context of Gallery Aferro and Newark, NJ.

This new fellowship in support of gender-based, racial and economic justice is open to Women Artists of Color of any age, and will cover all workspace studio costs of 6 months each for 2 artists annually, along with a stipend of $1000 and bespoke solo programming opportunities within the vibrant context of Gallery Aferro and Newark, NJ.
