REAL (Realistic Examples of Aging in Life) Photo Contest

Contest Dates: Friday, April 12 at 5 a.m. MT to Monday, May 6 at 6 p.m. MT

The REAL Photo contest, conducted by Changing the Narrative (CTN) is looking for photos of older adults (over age 50):

• In the workplace, particularly with multi-generational teams, and in a variety of working roles (not just office)

• In entrepreneurial roles or as small business owners

• Serving the community as volunteers, educators, or advancing social causes

Especially appealing will be photos with subjects:

• Living and working in both rural and urban areas

• Photos representing LGBTQ, racially and ethnically diverse communities, people with disabilities, and different religious affiliations

• Who are part of multigenerational teams

List of Prizes:

• Grand Prize - $250 cash

• Category Prizes - $100 cash each (3 selected—workplace, entrepreneur, volunteer)

• Honorable mention ($50 each)—(15 selected)

Contest Rules

Contest entry:

• Photos must contain at least one older adult as the subject (50 years or older).

• Include a title and description with your photo submission to give context. We want to know the who, what, where, why and when.

• All entries will be reviewed before posting to ensure they meet CTN guidelines. You will be notified via email when your photo is approved and published.

As a participant:

• You must have taken the photo and have explicit written permission from those depicted in the photo to use the photo.

• Anyone aged 18 and over is welcome to submit photos.

• Multiple contest entries are allowed (but please no more than 20 photos).

• Review other contest entries and vote for your favorites!

• Share your contest entries on social media and ask your friends to vote.

Judging:

• Final winners will be selected by a diverse jury to ensure photos represent a variety of worldviews.

• Number of votes will be considered but is not the sole criteria for judging.

• Winners will be notified via email by Tuesday, May 14th at 6 p.m. MT.

• By submitting a photo, you agree that CTN may use your photo submissions during the contest in social media advertising to encourage participation.

Photo Consent/Release Form

• When uploading a photo, you’ll be required to acknowledge and accept that you’ve read the Official Contest Rules.

• By submitting a photograph, you warrant that you are the owner of the image, that you alone own the copyright, and that you have obtained the signed release from the subjects of the photo, and any other needed third party release.

• If your photograph is selected as one of the winners of the contest, you will be asked to submit a REAL Photo Contest Consent/Release Form. https://changingthenarrativeco.org/photo-contest-disclaimer/ Please do not send any releases unless we've asked you to.
