Investec Cape Town Art Fair is pleased to announce that the call for entry for the 2019 edition is now open.
Investec Cape Town Art Fair’s seventh edition will return to the CTICC from February 15–17, 2019. We offer an intimate experience of one of the world’s most unique art capitals, personally creating connections between our exhibitors and galleries. ICTAF is where the fast-growing African art market and the international art world meet.
Developing the strength of ICTAF’s content, the Fair will continue to facilitate cultural and economic exchange, with international galleries showing their artists within the African context for the first time, alongside the region’s leading contemporary art galleries. Highlights of the Fair include its two curated solo sections.
Tomorrows/Today showcases artists who will be tomorrow's leading names. Made up of solo presentations, the section is curated by Fair Curator Tumelo Mosaka. A panel of art professionals will award a cash prize to the artist with the most exciting and original presentation.
SOLO seeks to more fully explore the artistic practices of emerging and established artists through curated solo presentations. In 2019, the section will explore the effects of the digital world on our lived realities. ICTAF welcomes proposals for solo presentations in all media, both new and traditional, that represent the unstable relationship between the physical and digital space, the real and the hyperreal.
ICTAF hosts a lively Talks Programme, contributing to the discussions that surround contemporary art and its production, collection and curation, and situating these debates within an African context. Every year the Fair invites art professionals, including museum directors, independent curators, dedicated collectors, and artists, to offer their insight to Fair visitors.
The VIP Programme is an integral part of ICTAF. The Fair creates a personalized, intimate experience for guests from around the globe, providing opportunities for galleries and collectors to expand networks and engage more deeply with one another. The 2018 programme included more than 50 events, each taking place at unique venues around the city.
ICTAF plays a crucial role in Cape Town’s art ecosystem through our Public Programme. Working alongside galleries, artists, collectors, museums, and institutions within the city, in a cultural exchange with our international participants, we create a programme of art events throughout the year, culminating in an art week that takes place alongside the Fair.
