Open Call: KUNSTRAUM Exhibition Program June / July 2018
Kunstraum is calling for last minute submissions to our June/July 2018 Exhibition Program. We are a community for artists by artists, aiming to redefine the way artists and curators collaborate. Our program explores this relationship by opening our gallery space to curators and artists interested in bringing engaging ideas to our table. We encourage unconventional thinking and relevant projects and we are excited to assist you in realizing them.
We encourage you to send a 250-word proposal in PDF format to genevieve@kunstraumllc.com with the subject line “KUNSTRAUM Exhibition Program June/July 2018” . The proposal should detail your curatorial concept and include 5-10 images/videos as well as links to the websites of the artists involved. All submissions should be no larger than 5 MB. Proposals with a majority of local artists are given preference. The deadline for proposals is May 15, 2018 by midnight EST. Our team will review all submissions and give notice on the selected proposal by May 20, 2018.
Our current gallery is a 250 square foot space inside of a 1,000 foot co-working loft, with one additional co-working loft located on the floor below. We are located at 20 Grand Avenue, a beautifully renovated factory building in the Clinton Hill/Navy Yard neighborhood of Brooklyn. The exhibition duration is four weeks and we provide assistance in administration, press, and sales. There is no production budget nor is there payment of shipping expenses. Curators receive 25% commission on sales.
Kunstraum is born out of a necessity to foster collaboration between artists, architects, curators, designers, filmmakers, and writers, and features excellent studio spaces, networking, research opportunities, and discourse for creative production. After successfully establishing our first space in New York in February 2015, we now seek to expand to the city of Berlin. Kunstraum’s global identity and presence is designed to offer and promote international community, mobility, and visibility. Recent press coverage includes Communication Arts, Creator’s Project, Huffington Post, Artnet News, Interview Magazine, Art F City and Artnet News. With Video Shop, a project at NADA New York, Kunstraum won the Artfair Goers Award 2016 and best booth.
