The Museum of Latin American Art in Buenos Aires, Malba, is inviting applications from an international field to fill the role of Artistic Director from the summer of 2018.
Malba is internationally recognised as a reference point for Latin American art and as a beacon of artistic and cultural life in Buenos Aires. A not-for-profit organisation, housing a collection of 600 works of Latin American art from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day, Malba is a dynamic cultural centre, offering temporary exhibitions of a very diverse nature, including exhibitions of modern and contemporary Argentinian and Latin American Art as well as international art, usually in partnership with other regional and international institutions. With a mission to bring the Museum closer to everyone and provide a space that is open to the community, Malba also runs a major film programme, hosts a literature department, has a strong education and outreach programme, a thriving publications programme, and reaches an average annual audience of 400,000.
In the new Director, Malba seeks a leader with international standing, a track record for excellence in artistic programming and with the networks to continue to raise the profile and significance of Malba on the international stage. They will be sensitive to the context of Malba and to the culture in which it operates, comfortable with working with the Founder, Eduardo Costantini and the newly recruited Board of the Fundación Malba, with the ambition to take the organisation on the next stage of its journey. They will also be comfortable working with an Artistic Advisory Committee in regards to the museum institutional strategy, the exhibitions and acquisitions programmes. They will have a keen interest in Latin American modern and contemporary art and culture, will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and will be enthusiastic about using exciting programming to grow audiences of all ages and at all levels.
