Haus der Kunst is seeking Senior Curator and Junior Curator
The Stiftung Haus der Kunst München, a non-profit company, operates one of the world's most recognized cultural institutions of contemporary art. The focus is on exhibitions, research and knowledge transfer. With the imminent first complete renovation of the house, the institution is also facing a major repositioning in its history.
Senior Curator (f/m)
In close co-operation with the chief curator, the essential tasks of the senior curator at Haus der Kunst are the conception of exhibition programs and active mediation in the field of global contemporary art.
For this position, we are looking for an experienced and committed personality in the museum and exhibition industry, with a scholarly academic degree and excellent knowledge in the field of art history of the 20th to 21st century on an international level.
In particular the following tasks are involved:
–Design and organization of exhibitions including catalog management
–Conception of framework programs
–Planning and controlling budgets
–Writing texts for catalogs as well as creating accompanying text material
–Preparation of a brochure for the internal and external communication of the exhibitions
–Compilation and formulation of applications for the acquisition of third-party funding
–Correspondence with artists, lenders and partner institutions
Your profile:
–Experienced and committed personality
–Excellent knowledge in the field of art history of the 20th to 21st century on an global level
–Wide spread international network of artists, peers, scholars
scholarly academic degree
–Professional experience in designing and curating exhibitions of contemporary art
–Security in the writing and editing of texts, pleasure in formulating and a feeling for topics
–Teamwork and communicative competence and organization
–German and English written and spoken, good knowledge in a third foreign language desirable
–Secure in the use of common MS-Office products
Junior Curator (f/m)
In close co-operation with the chief curator, the task is to assist the latter in his areas of responsibility.
In particular, the following tasks are involved:
–Design and organization of exhibitions including catalog management
–Conception of framework programs
–Planning and controlling budgets
–Writing texts for catalogs as well as creating accompanying text material
–Preparation of a brochure for the internal and external communication of the exhibitions
–Compilation and formulation of applications for the acquisition of third-party funding
–Correspondence with artists, lenders and partner institutions
Your profile:
–Openness and interest in contemporary art
–Successfully completed studies of art history / art science or cultural studies with a focus on fine arts and first professional experience in curating exhibitions of contemporary art, preferably through an internship in a museum, art association or an art hall
–Security in the writing and editing of texts, pleasure in formulating and a feeling for topics
–Teamwork and willingness to flexible working hours
–Communicative competence and organization
–German and English written and spoken, good knowledge in a third foreign language desirable
–Secure in the use of common MS-Office products
Both positions are designed for full time, the appointments are made at the next possible date for a period of two years.
