The Alonzo Davis Endowment for Fellowships
(Amherst, VA) –The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) is pleased to announce an important fellowship opportunity. The Alonzo Davis Endowment for Fellowships annually supports two fully-funded residencies of two weeks each for highly accomplished American visual artists, creative writers, and composers of African or Latinx descent. Residencies at VCCA include a private room, board, and an individual work studio.
The next application deadline is January 15, 2018 for residencies to take place between
June 1, 2018 and May 31, 2019.
Alonzo Davis came to VCCA for the first time in 1995 through a special initiative of
the National Endowment for the Arts. He quickly became an active member of the VCCA community, joining the Board of Directors in 2004. Since its inception the Alonzo Davis
Endowment for Fellowships has supported 11 artists.
Founded in 1971, VCCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working retreat for professional visual artists, writers, and composers. One of the leading artists communities in the world, VCCA’s mission is “to advance the arts by providing a creative space in which the world’s best artists can produce their finest literature, visual arts, and music.”
