Associate/Full Professor and Chair
The successful candidate for chair will lead with a consultative and collegial style, establishing new opportunities, facilities, and faculty appointments, and strengthening the connections of the Division of Art to the diverse communities of the Dallas-Fort Worth region and beyond.
Qualifications
An artist with creative and teaching experience sufficient for appointment at the rank of associate or full professor, including a deep commitment to artistic production as demonstrated by exhibition, teaching and/or scholarship, significant administrative experience and leadership ability, and a commitment to diversity, creative energy, and innovation. Additional: demonstrated success in leading a diverse community of artists, engagement with interdisciplinary creative work, familiarity with traditions and innovations in curriculum, and an understanding of emerging technologies as well as established ones.

Assistant/Associate Professor in Painting and Drawing
We seek a candidate with a recognized professional practice and teaching experience that encompasses painting and drawing. The responsibilities of the position will be to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, conduct professional critiques at all levels, and participate in university committee work. Active service at the school, university and community levels is also expected.
Qualifications
MFA degree or equivalent in Studio Art; one year at university level teaching experience beyond graduate assistantship; professional understanding of art related industries and criticism; an active professional creative practice, including a record of projects/ exhibitions/presentations; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Preferred: two years teaching at university level; knowledge of contemporary painting; commitment to foundation-level course content and concepts, specifically in regard to foundations in visual art; an artistic practice informed by a broad range of practical, cultural and intellectual pursuits.

The University and Community
The Division of Art at the Meadows School is a community of professional artists/teachers within a comprehensive school of the arts, offering the BA, BFA and MFA in art. The Division operates two on-campus art galleries, and conducts interdisciplinary projects on a regular basis with entities such as the Center for Creative Computation, alumni, Division of Film and Media Arts, and SMU Guildhall, the #1 graduate school in the nation for the video gaming industry.
