The MFU: MIAMI is the pilot semester of ArtCenter/South Florida's fellowship program, which brings together distinguished faculty, alternative education initiatives, and cultural practitioners to foster dialogues and projects that shed light around contemporary realities in the cultural sphere and beyond it. The program provides residents interested in working outside traditional disciplinary boundaries with the resources, time, and feedback to develop programs and courses that will be taught in future iterations of ArtCenter's Program for Applied Artistic Research. Each semester is designed in collaboration with a partner education initiative in an effort to build a dynamic, informal, and yet rigorous research platform within Miami.

For this pilot semester, which runs from February 26 through May 31, 2017, selected fellows will take part in the MFU Seminar taught by Bruce High Quality Foundation (BHQFU, New York) faculty and visiting guests that examine contemporary art and art education.

The 12-week residency offers a stipend of 3750 USD, live/work housing in Downtown Miami, and covers round-trip travel expenses. This program welcomes applications from visual artists, curators, researchers, writers, performers, and musicians at any stage in their career. There is no fee to apply.

Applications will be reviewed by ArtCenter and BHQFU. Up to five practitioners will be selected for this 12-week program. Applicants will be notified no later than January 2, 2017.

Residents will engage regularly with each other and BHQFU faculty and visiting artists biweekly through the MFU Seminar. This course includes group critiques, local visits, discussions, and guest artist lectures. Recent BHQFU guest artists have included Rashid Johnson, Lisa Yuskavage, Lorraine O'Grady, Huma Bhaba, Christine Sun Kim, David Salle, Lynne Tillman, Jayson Musson, Eileen Myles, Juliana Huxtable, Dana Schutz, Eva and Franco Mattes, Dawn Lundy Martin, Wayne Koestenbaum, and many more.

The MFU: MIAMI is proudly unaccredited and offers no degree.

We welcome international applicants, but are unable to assist in visa, sponsorship, or immigration requirements.
