JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION/TITLE: After School Program Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Education
SUPERVISOR: After School Program Manager
FULL TIME/PART TIME: Part-Time
EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt
REQUIREMENTS:
• B.A. in Education, Museum Studies, Performance Studies, Cultural Anthropology, Child Development, or related field
• Four years of experience working with children 6 – 18 in a formal or informal learning environment
• Knowledge in the use of social media, computer, iPad, and educational computer software application
• Ability to take initiative, be a team player
• Exemplary verbal and written communication
• Experience writing lesson plans and conducting research and evaluations preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently
• Warmth, positive energy, and a sincere love of working with youth and their families
• Flexible and passionate about working with youth
• Experience working with DYCD contracts is ideal
• Knowledge of Brooklyn
• Proficient with Macs, PCs, Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and Dropbox
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement programs for adolescents
• Recruit teens to participate in programs
• Input/update all participants and activities in DYDC online
• Educate, mentor and advise students from 9th through 12th grades who participate in a year-round enrichment program
• Establish partnerships with local high schools
• Create weekly group lesson plans for students
• Facilitate poetry, literacy; college and career and leadership workshops
• Integrate museum objects, exhibits and hands-on learning experiences into educational programs
• Lead the planning, research, development, implementation and evaluation of culturally based programs for students
• Develop programs and classes designed to engage teens in art, literacy, media and leadership
• Manage the purchasing and accounting of media equipment related to programs
• Audit technology inventory dedicated to the after school program on a quarterly basis
• Assist in developing and administering assessment instruments to monitor program effectiveness
• Serve as Liaison between key personnel in the Education & Programs Department with regard to specialized exhibition projects
• Support Development and Education departments by providing information necessary for grant proposals
• Facilitate stipend pay
• Recruit and manage artists-in-residence
• Capture program activity with pictures and other forms of documentation
• Other duties as assigned
SCHEDULE
Four days a week (28 Hours), with weekends and evenings as programs require.
COMPENSATION
$22/hour, paid every two weeks
