Visual Arts Faculty: St. Margaret’s is currently seeking applicants for a full-time Middle and Upper School Visual Art Teacher. The school also has an opening for a Visual Art Department Chair for the 2016-2017 school year. At St. Margaret’s the Visual Arts faculty recognizes and values the creative spirit, an essence at the core of all humanity. Through our courses and classes, students will discover their artistic abilities, develop an on-going knowledge of elements and principles, and experience confidence in self-expression. Heritage, aesthetic criticism, and skills in art-making are inherent throughout the visual art program. Students will develop greater awareness of personal potential, communicate thoughts and feelings through a variety of media, and better perceive and appreciate the world in which they live. Candidates should be motivated to work collaboratively with the Arts Faculty to further the artistic experience of our students. Potential candidates should have experience teaching art at the secondary school level. A B.F.A in Visual Arts or a B.A. in Art or Art Education is required.

Middle School Design Lab Faculty: St. Margaret’s seeks to hire an innovative teacher to design and implement the curriculum of the brand new Middle School Design Lab. This teacher will foster an environment that promotes innovation and work with faculty to integrate design thinking and the use of the equipment into the curriculum. The Design Lab teacher will be responsible for running and maintaining the 3D printers, laser cutter, and the other equipment in the space along with managing the inventory of materials and parts.
Qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree and a background in mechanical engineering or design or possibly architecture, with some experience with fabrication equipment, electronics, and computer programming; relevant industry or hobbyist experience with LEGO robotics, 3D printing, and iPads. Proven collaboration skills, mentoring, and teaching experience. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, the Internet, email, CAD programs and other 3D modeling programs are essential, as are strong organizational skills with attention to detail. You must enjoy working with students and be skilled at problem solving.
