Neion is happy to inform you that for second year in a row, will be hosting the residential project "The island - resignified" .

The island - resignified is a short-term residential project based in Lefkada, Greece.
Theorists and practitioners from multiple disciplines (from the fields of performance, media, sound, land, in situ, site and
situation specific, relational and participatory art, music, literature, theatre, dance, architecture, and scientists from the
fields of anthropology, sociology, archaeology, geography, geology, botanology, ornithology, astronomy) are invited to
produce individual or collective works and to get involved with the local community of the island.

The blog http://theisland-resignified.tumblr.com functions as an introduction to the project, as a virtual guided tour to the
island and as an open-call for artists and scientists who are interested to pick one of the suggested locations, to initiate
a project and to finally realise it at neion. Although this blog may resemble to a touristic map and the fact that an artist
in residence is merely a tourist should not be ignored, the suggested spots are chosen among others for their particular
character and for the density of meanings, connotations and relationships of the locations, the situations and the groups
of people involved. They are presented as routes or networks, rather than single locations, in order to outline the
topological framework. The participants are encouraged to work individually and to discover new points of interest through
their exploration of the island.

For 2016 neion will accept a maximum number of six participants, for the months of May, June, July and September, for
a maximum period of two weeks. Those who are interested to participate are called to send a detailed proposal in a single
pdf file with the description of the project, a short cv, a portfolio of recent works and preferred dates in by e-mail
to: theisland.resignified@gmail.com.
