*Outfest seeks a seasonal Programming Coordinator *to support the
Programming Department in all aspects of Outfest Los Angeles, Outfest
Fusion, and other programs, as needed. Outfest is the leading organization
that promotes equality by creating, sharing and protecting LGBT stories on
the screen. Over the past three decades, Outfest has showcased thousands of
films from around the world to audiences of nearly a million, educated and
mentored hundreds of emerging filmmakers and protected more than 35,000
LGBT films and videos.
*Status:* Full-Time | Seasonal (approx. start January 6; end July 29, 2016)
*Supervises: *Volunteer Assistant Programmers, Print Trafficking Assistant
*Key Duties & Responsibilities:*
-Manage, coordinate and organize all film submissions to filmmaker database
and DVD library (via Without a Box; Filemaker)
-Manage and ensure that the Programming Department database (Filemaker) is
updated at all times throughout the programming process
-Maintain print trafficking records and ensure that all films are received
and returned on time.
-Oversee the screening process of all festival submissions and ensure
quotas are met
-Respond to filmmaker programming inquiries and questions as needed
-Oversee collection, organization and selection of photos for print and
online marketing.
-Coordinate Fusion Lab One Minute Film Contest, including submissions &
screening
-Coordinate the design of and text exports of program capsules for program
guide
-Manage acceptance and rejection letter process for all submissions.
-Write film capsules as assigned
-Coordinate technical needs with Operations department
-Manage department expenses and relationship with Accounting dept via PO
log system.
-Work with Operations to create Theater Bible (distribute to participants:
filmmakers, moderators, panelists, etc. in advance)
-Oversee the quality checking (QC) of all content playing during Fusion and
Outfest Los Angeles to include scheduling and managing
-Communication with the film projectionist prior to and throughout events
to ensure quality control
*Qualifications:*
-Prior film festival (coordinating) experience
-Knowledge of current digital exhibition formats
-Prior experience using Filmmaker Pro (or similar database platforms)
required, Apple OS, Google Drive apps. Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop) a
plus
-Ability to take initiative, and follow tasks through to completion.
-Strong organizational and project management skills and attention to
detail.
-Able to work well in a team and independently; best applicant is affable
and unflappable
-Prior experience supervising paid and volunteer staff
-Commitment to working collaboratively with a diverse team of staff and
volunteers
-Editing experience not essential but a plus
*General qualifications: *
-Ability to sit and work at a desk for several hours at a time.
-Valid CA Driver’s License and must have own vehicle
-Ability to travel and attend meetings, presentations and events outside
the office
-Work occasional weekends and/or extended workdays.
-Must be able to lift 50lbs
