Synopsis:
It’s the summer of 1965, when the music and soul of East Los Angeles shook its way onto the dance floors and into the hearts of American youth culture with honesty, urban grit and optimism. The East LA streets were alive with a cool passion. The spirit of expression was blossoming and the world was drawn into this shining, extraordinary moment, tempered with the strife of the Watts Riots, Selma and the Vietnam War. Eastside Heartbeats is also inspired by uses an actual event, Cannibal and the Headhunters opening for the Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl, as the springboard for a largely fictional story of a young man's dream and the vibrant East Los Angeles music scene of the mid -1960s.
