For the 60th anniversary of FOMAS Group, the company, leader in the manufacture of forgings & seamless rolled rings, and Careof, non-profit organization for contemporary art, promote the open call At the heArt of Forging, for the production of a steel artwork.

The theme At the heArt of Forging suggests a reflection on the material, but also on the introspective dimension that drives man to the passion for his work and his art.

The sculpture, made of carbon steel or low alloy (weighing up to two tons at a maximum size of 5 x 3 x 5 meters), will enhance and highlight the potential of the material and all its possibilities and variations.

The selected artist is given the opportunity to approach the practice and techniques of forging, creating an artwork through the technical support of professionals at FOMAS SpA in Osnago (Lecco).

The call is open to artists from all nationalities born between 1 January 1970 and 31 December 1985 and resident in Europe.

Artists will be selected by a committee of three members of FOMAS Group: a representative of Careof, Gianni Bolongaro (President of La Marrana arteambientale); Jannis Kounellis (artist); and Vincenzo De Bellis (Artistic Director of Miart 2016).

The winning artist will receive a prize of 6,600 Euros (gross of tax), including production award and two-month residency at Careof (Milan).
