Celebrating its fifth season on Fire Island in Cherry Grove, NY, this year, Fire Island Artist Residency (FIAR) is now accepting applications for its internationally recognized summer residency program for artists identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer. LGBTQ emerging artists demonstrating new perspectives in contemporary visual art are encouraged to apply by April 12.

Five selected artists will share a live/work space in the historically queer island hamlet of Cherry Grove for a four-week program marked by intimate studio visits with, and public lectures by, renowned leaders in contemporary art and curation. The program is free to residents, who are provided with a stipend for meals and a free, modest live/work space.

FIAR is pleased to announce that the selection of 2015 residents will be made by the following distinguished guest jurors:
Dean Daderko, curator, The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston
Taylor Davis, artist
Rashaad Newsome, artist

2015 program
FIAR provides free modest live/work space to five artist residents who work, research, relax, and immerse themselves in the Fire Island community. During this time they are visited by a handful of renowned visiting artists and art professionals who commune with residents through intimate visits, dinners, and discussions, providing support and feedback throughout the duration of program. The greater Fire Island community, and visitors from New York and Long Island, are invited to attend free public lectures by these esteemed guests of FIAR.

Editions
