AIR – Artist in Residence Symposion Lindabrunn 2015 – call for applications

VSL – Verein Symposion Lindabrunn is an artist's association which was founded in the year 1968 at a special place named „Gemeindehalt' at Lindabrunn in Lower Austria. The primary founding purpose was an artist's colony for stone-sculptors. Art-symposia aside the established art enterprises were held every year till 1998. Every summer artists from nations all over the world had the chance to experiment or do single and/or group works at Symposion Lindabrunn. Specially artists from socalled „iron curtain' countries had the chance to take part and enriched the Sculpture Park Lindabrunn with pieces of art in a very high quality. Since 1999 Symposion Lindabrunn became an open development area, a production workshop for artistic experiments of all genres, specially for art for public space and social design.

This is a call to interested artists to stay and work for 1 (one) month in August 2015 at Symposion Lindabrunn as an Artist in Residence.

This year 1 (one) place can be offered. The call is adressed to artists who work in art in public space and/or social design. We provide the opportunity to take part at preparations for social design happenings or take part at these happenings. For this term we specially ask for sculptors.

We offer a room at VSL Symposionshaus, bathroom facilities, joint use of kitchen and media-room. Room and board are free. It might be useful to bring your own tools.

Grant: EUR 1.000,-- for 1 (one) month
Place: Symposionshouse of VSL, 2551 Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn, Steinbruchstrasse 25, Lower Austria (near by Vienna), Austria
Duration of stay: 1 (one) month (August 2015)

Closing date for applications for 2015: March 31, 2015

Requested application papers:
1) name, adress, e-mail, telephone-number, website/s
2) theme-proposal and a description of the project to be carried out during your stay (1 DIN A4 page max.)
3) technical eludications, room and/or system requirements
4) CV and artist resume
5) documentation of previous artistic work (reference to website/s only)
6) verbal communication in German or English is required

Travel costs will not be refunded. Applications which don't fulfill these certain criteria will be excluded. Please don't send originals, application documents will not be returned!

The Jury (VSL art advisory council) will only consider complete applications. It will make its desicion till the end of April 2015. After the jury session the appicants will be informed by e-mail about the receipt of their application.
