Call for Artists Statements: HAIR-CODE
The Vienna Memory Project linking up to 16 days of activism to eliminate
Violence against Women on 25th Nov.-10th Dec. 2013.
www.theviennaproject.org is one of the first inclusive and participative
Holocaust Memorial projects. It will take place from October to May 2014 and
beyond.
Hair and Hairstyle play an important symbolic role in human culture and are
subject of power abuse. Hairstyle is seen as a social expression for gender
identity, to connect to social and religious groups and therefore a common
clue for stereotyping.
This is a call for artists to contribute with a picture anticipating
stereotyping and freedom of self-expression using hair and hair -code as
medium. The pictures will be published within the 16 days of activism from
25th of November to 10th of December as part of our performance program in
our social media and possibly in the indented final publication.
