Process

Exhibition proposals are reviewed by the Galleries' staff. Decisions are
made based on the quality of the work, the availability of the
Galleries, the degree to which the work corresponds to the Galleries'
mission, originality of the exhibition, the exhibition's technical
requirements, and the exhibition's budget.

After submissions are reviewed and notification letters are sent, the
Gallery Director will invite selected artists or groups for an
interview. As part of the interview process, the artist or group will be
asked to bring samples of the artist(s)' work to Brand Library & Art
Center. If the works are too large to be conveniently moved, the Gallery
Director may arrange to visit the artist's studio. Within four to six
weeks of the interview, the artist or group will either be assigned an
exhibition date or notified they have not been selected for the
exhibition year. The notification, interview timeline, and assigned
exhibition date are subject to change at the discretion of the Galleries
staff.

Limits

* Artists or artist groups who have exhibited at the Brand Library
& Art Center are not eligible to resubmit for a solo or group exhibition
for four years. Individual artists may be selected for multiple curated
exhibitions.
* Works previously displayed in the Galleries are not eligible to
be shown again. This includes works exhibited in single artist shows and
group shows.
* No preferential treatment is given to individual members of the
Associates of Brand Library, City of Glendale employees, or art
associations that have previously exhibited.
* Preference may be given to Southern California artists or artist
groups.
