Venice Arts Gallery is currently accepting proposals from established and
emerging curators and artists for its Fresh Perspectives Visiting Curator
Exhibition, scheduled to take place in November–December 2013. The goals of
the program are to engage and highlight new perspectives on photography,
film, multimedia and/or digital arts and to offer established and emerging
curators and artists in Los Angeles County the opportunity to present an
exhibition in a professional nonprofit gallery. Once chosen, the curator
will be solely responsible for selecting the artists and artworks for an
exhibition. Each proposed exhibition must consist of at least 4 artists and
have a strong, unifying curatorial premise. The artists’ work must in some
way relate to photographic, film/video, and/or digital media practice.
Curators must live and/or work in Los Angeles County (the artists they
select do not need to be LA residents). Proposals that incorporate a public
program or screening component are encouraged.
Curators must submit the following to be eligible:
-A curator’s statement detailing the proposed exhibition (up to 2 pages)
-A current resume
-A list of artists included in the exhibition
-Digital images (as jpegs, 72 ppi and at least 1000px wide) from at least 4
included artists (10–20 images)
-Current resumes of all the included artists
