SummerSounds is the Los Angeles Philharmonic's world music concert series for small children, now in its 43rd season at the Hollywood Bowl. Performances are Monday - Friday, July 9th - August 17th at 10am and 11:15am.

The LA Phil seeks a Warm-up person and musical integrator for the concert series. The ideal musician/actor is energetic, joyful, a skilled improviser and musician, and comfortable with small children. The character's tasks are threefold:

1. Set the environment. This includes creating live music as the audience enters, warming up the crowd, establishing the rules of the theater, and emphasizing that everyone will have a great time.

2. Use music to set the tone. Throughout the show, music needs to be created to accompany, accentuate, and theatricalize the action between the main characters: Mr. K, the grumpy tenant of an old Victorian house on 24th and Hoover (the fictitious locale for the show), and Emily, the ebullient college student who visits him every summer.

3. Play the part. Because Emily is the voice of optimism and acceptance and Mr. K is the voice of cynicism, the third character is a wild card - an undependable sidekick who is led by musical impulses rather than rationality. Puckish, very friendly, but also liable to panic and bolt.

AUDITIONS will be held on Saturday, April 21st from 4-7pm. To schedule an appointment, please email cpalmer@laphil.org expressing your interest. For more information about the program, please visit www.hollywoodbowl.com/summersounds.

The Artist fee will be inclusive of rehearsals and performances.
