Summer Academy Traunkirchen 2012: Call for Applications
The fifth Summer Academy Traunkirchen will take place from July 22-September 8, 2012, and this year will focus on painting, graphic art, drawing, and photography. Xenia Hausner, Christian Ludwig Attersee and the Zhou Brothers will lead the „painting' classes and will offer differentiated approaches to this artistic means of depiction. In the course „Inner Life', Xenia Hausner will focus on the exploration of individuality and the filtering out of an inner essentiality. The Zhou Brothers will transmit methods of interaction for the creative process in their course „Feeling is Liberty' and Christian Ludwig Attersee will examine „Water and Weather' with regard to their presentation options. Experience in graphic arts may also be value to painters; experience with this medium can be gained or deepened during the graphic arts course led by Konrad Winter.
Eva Schlegel will teach in Traunkirchen for the first time. Her course concentrates on „Photography: Portrait', whereby both photographic as well as experimental experiences are examined. The goal is to train one's vision and to determine the criteria for artistic photography. The prerequisites for Tone Fink's course „Drawing and Forming' is letting go to be open to new experiences. At the beginning, a special focus will be placed on „dancing' on the paper, whereby finger and body exercises with all graphic media can help to loosen up the participants.
This year, six courses are being offered for approximately 120 students. The Summer Academy Traunkirchen is open to everyone over the age of 17 with an interest in art; to apply, submit application materials (registration form, CV and images of one's own work). Each course concludes with a public school exhibition. Further event dates and the public framework program with lectures by artists as well as events organized in cooperation with the Salzkammergut Festwochen Gmunden, the Kunstforum Salzkammergut, and the Galerie 442, will be announced in June.
Some 12 grants covering tuition costs are available for participation in one of the classes at the Summer Academy Traunkirchen. Journey and accommodation must be paid by students themselves. Applicants must be at least 17 and not older than 28 years old. An attendance of universities of arts, art colleges, art academies and art schools or of federal higher institutes of applied arts is a further condition.
