Founded in 1969, the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice is a vibrant center for Printmaking and Book Arts in the historical heart of one of the most beautiful art capitals in the world. Each month Italian and international artists come together to work in the Scuola's independent Studio Internazionale di Grafica. These 1 to 12 week Residencies in well equipped print studios are an opportunity to exchange inspirations, ideas, experiences and techniques, and explore and expand their individual creative work.
A Residency at the Studio Internazionale di Grafica provides the unique opportunity to experience Venice as an independent working artist in the Studio's international creative community. Residents draw inspiration from both the historical masterpieces and the contemporary arts scene which Venice offers, from one's fellow artists and the knowledgeable staff at the Studio, as well as from the simple joys of daily life in the magic that is Venice.
The Scuola is affiliated with institutions such as Vermont Studio Center, Boston University, Indiana University, as well as Italian Academies of Fine Arts and Museums. Among the international artists who have taught, lectured and worked at the Scuola are Henry Goetz, Stanley Hayter, John Ross, Michael Mazur, Clare Romano, Robert Storr and Jon Gregg, founder of the Vermont Studio Center.
The Studio Internazionale di Grafica offers:
• Independent Artists Residencies for visual and all creative arts
• Academic Residencies for professors of visual arts and professors of all creative arts
• Postgraduate Residencies for graduate and postgraduate visual arts students
• Summer 2012 Open Studio for visual and all creative arts
Fully Funded Residency Prize including Solo Exhibition during the Venice Biennale:
4 Postgraduate resident artists are selected every year for a full funded residency and a solo exhibition in our SGgallery. Of the 4 selected artists, a further selection will be made for a solo exhibition to be held in the opening days of the Venice Biennale (2013) and -from 2014- of the Biennale Architettura.
