ABOUT US
The European Tissue Symposium (ETS) is a trade association, organized as a non-profit association representing the majority of tissue paper producers throughout Europe, and about 90% of the total European tissue production. Founded in 1971 and based in Brussels since 1992, the Association
• monitors all events and developments of importance to the tissue business and informs its members;
• represents the industry to other Trade Organizations, European and International institutions;
• is a forum for discussion and information on topics like environment, product safety, trade regulations, technical and market issues, statistics;
• supports reputable third party studies and investigations aimed at the best understanding of Tissue's hygiene performance, environmental impact, user preferences, etc.
Considering the recent studies promoted by ETS and conducted by the University of Westminster on the most hygienic method of drying hands and the interest of ETS in disclosing such results to the public through the use of several different media (i.e.: the publication of the studies on our website), we submit to your attention this project , trusting that it will meet your favor. Aims of the project are to provide an effective and impressive communication so as to encourage and facilitate the disclosure of the above mentioned results and the realization of an art piece (using the cartoon or illustration technique ) to communicate and divulge the following message:
'paper towels for hand-drying are far more hygienic than any other drying system'
A first edition of the 'Wash&Dry – Paper means hygiene' Contest was held successfully in Bologna, Italy in the course of 2011 in collaboration with the local Fine Arts Academy. The results of that edition encouraged us to promote, still in partnership with the Fine Arts Academy in Bologna, this worldwide open call, trusting it will raise the attention on 'hygiene' and the best and simplest ways to pursuit it, accordingly also to the OMS and WHO indications.
