Student photographers who submit their portfolio to a contest could win US$2,500.
Time magazine seeks the best young photographers of 2011 in "The Next Generation" contest. Portfolios should explore how photography, video and the culture of images define today's world.
Along with the cash prize, the winner's portfolio will be published on Time's photography blog Lightbox and receive a review from Time's photo editors.
Applicants must be currently enrolled students or 2011 graduates from high school, college or graduate school.
Students can submit between 10-20 photographs from a number of categories - photojournalism, portraiture, still life, conceptual or fine art. Entries must include a brief description of the portfolio.
