Job Description: Youth Speak Collective (YSC), a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2005, is a youth- driven initiative empowering low-income communities in the Northeast San Fernando Valley. YSC's Dance, Drama & Design Coach will facilitate and organize students at San Fernando High School and Discovery Charter Preparatory School in creative and digital arts expression.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruct high school aged youth in one of more of the following areas: Dance, Drama or Design
Develop and sustain a class of 15-20 students.
Plan and ensure an exhibition project after every class cycle.
Prepare lessons and small group activities
Track attendance and retention to ensure full enrollment at all times.
Develop and sustain excellent relationships with youth, parents, administrators and school staff.
Maintain a positive, motivated and structured classroom
Plan, implement and conduct class independently
Monitor the safety of the program participants.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma required.
Strong background in: video editing, video production, graphic design including lighting, camera, &
sound, and/or, Dance, and/or Theatre.
Experience working in afterschool programs.
Experience working with youth and young adults.
Bilingual (a plus)
Must be comfortable working in a team environment.
Excellent Communication skills (verbal and written)
Valid Driver's License.
