Climate Change: And Now It's Our Turn is an innovative project that will
bring artists, architects, designers, and performers together with other
professionals in the humanities and sciences to explore and develop new
perspectives in addressing this complex subject. It is conceived and
directed by Guest Curator Regina Cornwell, an award-winning writer with
expertise in environmental issues and the arts. The project includes panel
discussions, speakers and critical research leading up to a major
exhibition, opening in late Fall 2012 in New York and at partner
organizations in and outside of New York City.
The Process
In Summer of 2011, Ms. Cornwell will select the participating artists,
architects, designers, and performers who will be asked to:
a) create work inspired by new definitions of or alternatives to our
society's idea of progress;
b) consult or collaborate with experts in other fields, such as the
sciences, engineering, economics, anthropology, or sociology to create work
that includes either a practical, conceptual, or symbolic climate change
solution;
c) come up with new social, economic, and cultural aims and standards
embodied in or implied by the new work by approaching climate change in more
humane and equitable ways; and,
d) produce a visual presentation of their concepts for exhibition in
Climate Change: And Now It's Our Turn, and taking form as: photography,
video, other digital media, mixed media installation, sculpture, public art,
design, architecture, live performance or documentation.
