Job Title: Gallery Internship
Department: Public Art & Design
Reports to: Director of Public Art & Design
Position Description: The Gallery Internship is a part-time position of up to 12 hours per week, which will help support a variety of functions related to visual and public art programming at the Collaborative. This includes but is not limited to: the opening and closing of the gallery facility, gallery sitting, greeting visitors, light housekeeping, preparation for artist selection panels, cataloging submissions, researching applicants, preparing panel packets and making panel arrangements. The Gallery Intern will make arrangements for and attend team meetings with artists and designers, be on hand for the installation and de-installation of exhibits, and will work with supervisors to develop programs that are complimentary to upcoming exhibitions and public art events. In addition, the Gallery Intern will provide general administrative support to the Associate Director and Director of Public Art and Design as directed- supporting a variety of temporary and permanent public art initiatives and projects.

Compensation: The Gallery Intern will be paid a stipend of $1,000 for each semester in the position and may also apply for school credit.
Any mileage accrued in performance of the assigned job duties will be eligible for reimbursement according to the mileage rate defined by the Arts Council.
Workplace Conduct/ Dress Code: The Arts Council for Long Beach is the official advisory body for arts and culture to the City of Long Beach. Consequently, meetings with city staff and other business professionals are often a required part of any position at the Arts Council. Regular business dress is required.
In addition, professional conduct is expected of all employees to include: use of courteous and professional language and prompt attendance to the workplace and scheduled meetings. Excessive cell pone use or use of email of the Internet for personal business is prohibited.
