Share Your Talent and Brighten the Futures of Inner-City Youth as a Paid Theatre Of Hearts/Youth First Artist/Mentor
Theatre Of Hearts/Youth First (TOHYF) is a 501(c)3 community-based organization whose mission is to prevent and intervene in youth violence by involving underserved, low-income youth and their families in extended, high quality, standards-based, multidisciplinary arts educational workshops. We are now selecting experienced artists in various disciplines to teach Theatre Of Hearts/Youth First Artist-In-Residence Program interactive arts workshops to at-risk youth ages 4-18 at schools, probation facilities, and community-based sites in Los Angeles County and Orange County.
General Job Description: Artists will typically conduct 2- 4 hour workshops once or twice per week for approximately 13 -15 weeks for each workshop on a rotating annual schedule on a contract basis. Long-term programming enables students to learn in-depth arts skills, which they will showcase in a culminating Work-In-Progress Presentation.
Job Requirements:
ALL ARTISTS: You must have your own transportation and a valid CA driver's license. Bilingual and/or previous teaching experience a plus. If accepted, you will be required to pass a criminal background check and TB test.
ACTORS, DANCERS & MUSICIANS: Must have at least 3-5 years of experience as a professional artist with updated professional resume' and work samples/demo reel (or online link to same if available) including recent artistic work such as choreography, directing, master classes, performances, etc.
CREATIVE WRITERS/POETS & VISUAL ARTISTS: Must have at least 3-5 years of professional experience with updated professional resume', work samples/publications/portfolio/exhibit (or online link to same if available) including recent commissions, exhibitions, publications, etc.
