*ASSISTANT PRODUCTION MANAGER*
*Skirball Cultural Center*
The Skirball is seeking a full-time Assistant Production Manager,
responsible for assisting with the technical production of a wide variety of
programs and events for the Skirball Cultural Center such as concerts,
lectures, literary readings, film, multi-media, dance, site-specific
performances, and festivals. Work schedule is varied and includes some
evenings and weekends.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES*
1. Assists in coordinating all activities relative to the production of
public events including
- Setting up and operating technical equipment
- Creating stage and event set-ups per artist specifications;
- Participating in development of facilities usage plan for events;
Interfacing with staff from various departments to ensure compliance with
plans
- Participating in load in, tech, rehearsals, programs, and strike
- Supervising event crew
- Serving as stage manager and house manager as appropriate
- Obtaining and reviewing bids from vendors and monitoring contracts and
invoices
- Ordering and coordinating delivery/operation of production rentals
(stage, lights, backline, sound equipment, etc.)
2. Performs liaison with artists performing at the Skirball including:
- Contacting performing artists and speakers at the direction of the
Production Manager
- Coordinating technical needs with performers and representatives
- Assisting with the coordination of performer rehearsal
times/facilities
3. Develops and maintains the program department’s master calendar;
coordinates with the Private Events staff to ensure appropriate scheduling.
4. Maintains facility equipment such as speakers, amplifiers, mixing
board, etc., develops plans for future equipment purchases; develops
procedures and instruction guides for equipment as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· Experience as a working professional with broad expertise in
production and technical theater
· Working knowledge of lighting, sound, staging, rigging, design
elements, and production scheduling
· Working knowledge of production equipment, some ability to repair,
or problem-solve technical problems
· Experience in producing performances in non-traditional spaces
· Leadership skills to comfortably lead crews of all kinds
· Self motivated, able to prioritize, meet deadlines and multi-task
· Very effective oral and listening communications skills and the
ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultures, ages, and
economic backgrounds
· Ability to work some evenings and weekends
