Upon completion of the program, many of these musicians participate in HMI's Professional Alumni Ensembles, which provide paid performance opportunities as part of the Institute's ongoing support of its alumni and their professional development. Other graduates serve as teachers and mentors in the Institute's Community Outreach Initiative, providing year-round music education and performances to underserved youth and communities of Los Angeles through seminars, instrument-instruction classes and live-performance music programs. More than 10,000 students in over 25 elementary and secondary schools benefit from HMI's Community Outreach Initiative.
