Public art for a new Norwegian government building – R6
Open call for pre-qualification
Submission by 25 June 2010
Public Art Norway (KORO) are inviting artists to a pre-qualification stage relating to two commissions for indoor art projects for the Norwegian Government Building Complex - R6. The projects will be situated in one of Norway's most prominent political contexts. KORO are looking for art projects that respond actively and critically to this context. The building will house two government ministries and will be completed in 2012.
The pre-qualification call will be issued internationally with the aim of finding artists who can be commissioned to carry out two wall-based projects. The first site is a freestanding wall located in the foyer/reception area on the ground floor. The second site consists of three walls in the pressroom and the cabinet minister units. The budget for each commission is 0.8m and 1.8m NOK respectively. KORO may decide to invite artists to a limited concept competition.
Extensive information can be found in the Art Programme, which can be downloaded from www.koro.no/R6. The results of the pre-qualification will also be published here. Due to the demanding nature of the projects, the Art Committee reserves the right to select artists who have not taken part in the pre-qualification.
Submissions must not exceed 10 A4 pages and must include a brief explanation of the artist's interest in the project, as well as documentation relating to previous projects, relevant experience and a CV.
Please send submissions by post to:
'R6', KORO, PB 6994 St. Olavs plass, 0130 Oslo, Norway.
Alternatively, submissions may be sent as a PDF to R6@koro.no.
The deadline for submissions is 25 June 2010.
