Lower East Side Printshop, Manhattan, announces 2010 Special Editions residency

The Lower East Side Printshop invites emerging artists of all disciplines to
apply for the 2010 Special Editions Residency, a competitive residency
program that allows emerging artists to create new work through an
exploration of printmaking. The Printshop offers an opportunity for artists
to complete an important new body of work in collaboration with our
experienced master printers, entirely sponsored by the Printshop.

Artists are provided with technical assistance, financial support, and the
time and space to explore printmaking. Experimentation and exploration of
new materials and processes are welcome. No previous printmaking experience
is required.

Residency includes:
12 day-long collaboration sessions with master printers during a period of
three to six months, including project production/editioning
Independent studio access during the residency
All materials
$4,000 stipend
Print and internet publicity
Project documentation
Limited travel and accommodation stipends for artists living outside of New
York City

The Lower East Side Printshop, founded in 1968, is a non-profit art center
that supports contemporary artists of all creative backgrounds by offering
them studio space, career services, and expertise in printmaking to develop
new work through experimentation and collaboration. In our classes,
workshops, and exhibitions, a broad and diverse audience of enthusiasts,
professionals, and institutions can learn about and collect prints.

Applications must be postmarked or hand-delivered by December 2, 2009.

No previous printmaking experience is necessary. Applicants must be legal US
residents.
