Director Kunstverein München
Stefan Kalmár, who for the past four years has successfully run Kunstverein München, has been appointed director of 'artists space' New York City. As a result of this, the director's post at Kunstverein München has now become vacant.
Kunstverein München is highly regarded nationally and internationally, as a key institution for innovative contemporary art and critical curatorial concepts and discourse.
Over the past 20 years, its previous directors Zdenek Felix, Helmut Draxler, Dirk Snauwaert, Maria Lind and Stefan Kalmár, have challenged curatorial and contemporary art conventions producing innovative exhibitions.
Founded in 1823, supported by the City of Munich's Arts Council, Kunstverein München plays a central role, alongside 'Pinakothek der Moderne', 'Haus der Kunst' and 'Lenbachhaus', as a key contemporary art institution in the City of Munich - being rooted locally whilst working internationally.
The board of Kunstverein München particularly hopes to see the innovative and critical role of the last years continued. The candidate should be able to effectively communicate her/his programme and represent the organisation on a local, national and international level.
Additional requirements for applicants are: relevant academic education, independent curatorial approach along with first-hand experience in all fields of exhibition management (team-leadership, communication, education, finances, fundraising, marketing and public relations).
Please send your application, including a CV and a short proposal of your future programme, no later than the 15th of June 2009 to Dr. Florian Seidl (chairman), Kaulbachstr.6, 80539 Munich, Germany.
Your application will be treated absolutely confidentially. More information about the Kunstverein München can be found under: http://www.kunstverein-muenchen.de
