The Avenue 50 Studio is proud to present “Bodies Mapping Time - Portraits of Women” by J. Michael Walker.

Artist J. Michael Walker, who mapped the soul of L.A. in “All the Saints of the City of the Angels” now explores another chart of navigation-the female body and the spirit that animates it. Focusing on women of all shapes, sizes and ages, he creates empathic images wherein the revealed body reveals the essence within.

Ten women were asked to pose for Walker. Like many figurative artists, J. Michael uses photographs as reference for his paintings and drawings. Recently, he began looking at photographs on their own terms. What has been produced for our exhibition are sensitively poetic portraits of woman who exhibit a comfortable and confidant aura. These women strike us as people who revere their bodies.
