GRADE 8 (£36,532 - £41,118)

Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (DJCAD) seeks to appoint
a part-time Lecturer in Sound Art to provide maternity cover. The
post holder will be responsible for delivery of teaching to
undergraduate and postgraduate students throughout DJCAD, with
particular focus on the area of sound art and design. The successful
candidate will demonstrate outstanding abilities to lead and develop
this area of expertise within DJCAD.

Principal Duties:

In addition to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels the
post holder will undertake the following duties:

Tutorial Support & Tutor Group Meetings - allocation of tutees as
advised.

Individual masters student supervision in sound art & design, regular
meetings and email contact.

Supervision and support to 4th year students - throughout the year.

Lead elective tutorials

Take a lead in the 2nd year Sound Workshop - Annual introduction to
the practice and theory of sound as a creative medium with an
introduction to critical listening as well as the processes and skills
needed for recording, editing and exhibiting or broadcasting.

Soundtrack - a week long workshop taking students through the
fundamental concepts and skills of creating soundtracks for moving
image.

Sound Surgeries - individual or small group sessions for undergraduate
and postgraduate students to intensively address particular issues or
ideas in sound art or design. Organised on an ad-hoc basis to respond
to student needs.

The Sound Masterclass - organisation of a three or more day
masterclass for Time Based Art & MSc students that is in part
delivered by a visiting lecturer.

Group Critiques - involvement in end of project and year crits for all
years.

Virtual Learning Environment - continued development of "The Listening
Room" learning resource for sound art and sound design through the VLE.

Semester 1 Assessments & Reviews - member of assessment panels for
level 2 and level 4 students.

Degree Examination - member of examination panel for graduating
students.

Organisation of KYTN Salon day - in consultation with Arika and Dundee
Contemporary Arts to invite speakers and co-ordinate a one day
discussion as part of the KYTN Festival.
