An Open Call Reminder from NewTown
----------------------------------------------------------
Project Name: TBD
Deadline for Proposals: October 5, 2008
Results of Proposal Review Announced: February 15, 2009
Projected Date of Show: mid-June, 2009

Project Summary
----------------------------------------------------------
This open call is inspired by a fascination with music boxes,
player pianos, pianolas, street organs and even Luigi and Antonio Russolo's intonarumori - all instruments making music or organized sound through various applications of mechanical
origin. Artists from all disciplines are welcome to submit
proposals, however, a major portion of review criteria will be
the ability to create interesting, new music or organized sound.

We Seek
----------------------------------------------------------
Unique musical instruments that are primarily mechanical, but may
incorporate electro-mechanical elements. Instruments may be:
â— Instruments designed to make or perform original music,
whether pre-composed, improvised or programmed into the
instrument through mechanical or electro-mechanical means;
â— Unitary or self-contained devices;
â— Audience interactivity may be element.
